Healthcare professionals must constantly upgrade their competencies to stay on par with changing technologies and advances in their field. Continuing education (CE/CME) courses can help them bridge the skills and practice gaps in their pursuit of delivering top-of-the-line patient care.

Advanced Health Education Center (AHEC) provides healthcare professionals with the opportunity to do just that through a variety of structured courses that enhance knowledge, boost competency, and improve patient care.

“Throughout 35 years of operating in healthcare education, we have strived to make an impact with our selection of cutting-edge, industry-leading topics, delivered in variable formats to meet our customer needs,” says Jence Garza, CEO of AHEC.

It develops various courses and skills training programs for healthcare professionals covering multiple medical imaging specialties as well as professional and personal development. Partnering with accreditation bodies like AHRA and the California Board of Registered Nursing. AHEC delivers approved CE courses for physicians, radiologic technologists of all modalities, and nurses. AHEC is also an accredited ACCME provider.

AHEC has over 100 educational programs and offers various formats for students to attend. This includes in-person at their training center in Houston, TX, on location in various cities with their education partners and local radiologic societies, as well as webinars led by expert instructors to keep them up-to-date on industry regulations and innovations.

These programs are provided on-demand, allowing clients to complete the courses at their pace.

In addition to CE courses, AHEC offers skills training in sonography, mammography, and bone densitometry. The sonography training combines didactic classroom and hands-on application in the state-of-the-art scan lab on live models. These courses are dedicated to concentrating on a specific area, anatomy, or type of exam.

Its 40-hour initial training course for mammography technologists meets the requirements of the federal MQSA law. AHEC is one of the few facilities that offer an option to also perform the required initial 25 exams in mammography. AHEC’s clinical partners are world-renowned medical facilities, a highly beneficial quality, as it helps technologists develop a good foundation and develop their skills in a leading-edge facility. This can be particularly important for clients based in a rural environment, where technologists may not have a mammographer to work with. Hospitals, medical practices, and outpatient facilities can upskill their staff through these programs and ensure each employee is trained in the best patient care delivery practices.

AHEC expanded at its customer’s requests in 1995 to include its division MEDRelief Staffing. This highly regarded division supports facilities’ staffing needs throughout the nation offering local (Per Diem), travel, and permanent placement for Imaging Technologists and Nurses. One of Texas's first staffing solution providers to be certified by the Joint Commission, MEDRelief Staffing is renowned for its extensive network of remarkable candidates and a strong relationship with some of the nation’s finest medical institutions. Customers and employees of MEDRelief Staffing enjoy the added benefit of earning tuition credits that can be used for courses at AHEC.

New innovations, techniques, and procedures are constantly introduced to the world of medicine, but AHEC stays atop the latest trends to provide the foremost in healthcare education. A long history of swiftly adapting to the marketplace allows it to be the go-to for healthcare professionals and institutes.
