LowTE Florida®
Best-In-Class Bio-Identical Hormone Therapy Provider

Carolyn Zaumeyer, Nurse Practitioner, LowTE Florida®Carolyn Zaumeyer, Nurse Practitioner

Imagine working alongside a physician who believed that all menopausal women needed a psych referral! The first physician Carolyn worked with, straight out of nurse practitioner training, seemed to think that! Carolyn was sharing a desk with him, reviewing charts, learning his treatment patterns and trying to absorb as much knowledge as possible when she noticed this pattern. When she confronted her colleague, she asked, “all these ladies can’t be crazy.” He replied; “Oh yes, they are! they are miserable, they need to get their lives together!” At that moment, Carolyn asked, “can I have those patients?” and he replied, “god bless you – you take the old birds, and I will go deliver babies!”

This was many years ago, during the time when Premarin and Provera were considered the best options for hormone treatment. When she began treating these ladies, she started getting empowering phone calls from patients saying “I feel so much better!” “I like myself better and my husband likes me better!” and “this is life changing!” Those phone calls were very encouraging.

All was going well until 2002, when the Women’s Health Initiative reported the negative hormone findings. The immediate reaction was that over 80 percent of the women in the U.S. discontinued taking hormones. As time passed, the initial results of this study have been dissected and disproven many times over, bringing to light that there must be a safer, better way to get hormones into these women. T h i s reality sparked Carolyn’s curiosity to learn more about hormone therapy.

With the support from patients who experienced life-changing results, Carolyn was determined to find a safer and better way to administer hormones. She pursued her passion by studying bio-identical hormones. She found the top four hormone experts in the nation, then traveled and studied with them. She wanted to have the confidence that she would be providing the safest hormones (bio-identical) at the right dose (scientifically calculated) and using the safest delivery system (BHRT pellets).

Her gynecology practice, Women’s Awareness, was very busy – she was working very hard, but knew she could do more, make more of a difference in both men and women’s health. She decided to shift her focus on helping men and women as they age. Carolyn became a respected hormone expert, and founded LowTE Florida®.

Today, her reputation goes beyond the U.S., with patients traveling from around the world, including Nigeria, Scotland, England, Germany, Canada, St. Kitts, the Bahamas, and many of the Caribbean islands to seek her expertise.

LowTE Florida’s success has enabled Carolyn and her team to grow and prosper, offering a rewarding work environment and attractive compensation packages. Bio-identical hormone pellets are used in approximately 95 percent of practice appointments. She has also had very good success with vaginal rejuvenation by utilizing the Femi-Lift® CO2 Laser, with many of her patients adding Botox® to their appointments.

Carolyn’s entrepreneurship has expanded beyond her practice. She was the first nurse practitioner in Florida to establish and operate an independent practice, leading her to write a book, “The Nurse Practitioner as Entrepreneur: How to establish and operate an independent practice, a reference and resource manual.” The book became a success and remains popular on Amazon.

In 2005 she was approached by the publisher FA Davis to write a revised and expanded version of her first book. She then wrote “How to Start an Independent Practice: The Nurse Practitioner’s Guide to Success,” which was utilized at several Universities as a textbook. This book continues to sell on Amazon nineteen years later!

When Carolyn launched LowTE Florida in 2013, she learned that there was a nutritional supplement that complimented the pellet therapy, Diindolylmethane (DIM). She added a shopping page to her website with this one product. She was soon selling in other states, including California, Texas, New York, and Tennessee.

The inspiring journey of Carolyn Zaumeyer, a nurse practitioner who dared to challenge the status quo and transformed her career into a thriving business. Her dedication to helping menopausal women resulted in the creation of the International Center for Excellence in Hormone Therapy, LowTE Florida®.

Since 2013, LowTE Florida has added nutritional supplements to its offerings, with LowTE FreeTE as its flagship product. LowTE FreeTE release the bind of the sex hormone binding globulin (SHBG), enhancing the feelings and physical effects of testosterone therapy for both men and women. Today, it sells a dozen supplements under the LowTE Florida® brand, sold at the practice and available through the LowTEFlorida.com wwebsite and Amazon. The high quality supplements are also sold to healthcare professionals, physicians, nurse practitioners and clinics throughout the country, on a wholesale basis.

Although Carolyn faces the daily challenge of dispelling myths and misinformation regarding the safety of bio-identical hormones, her pursuit for knowledge and desire to help others remains unwavering. With her continued success, she ponders the future of LowTE Florida®, considering offers for franchising or selling her practice. She remains dedicated to her practice and the supplement line, ensuring that people continue to experience the benefits of her innovative approach to hormone therapy.

Though some local physicians initially expressed skepticism about pellet therapy, those who have reviewed the research are now enthusiastic supporters. In fact, not only does Carolyn enjoy the backing of numerous physicians in her community, but many of them have even become her patients, showcasing their trust and confidence in her practice.

She has consistently been recognized as a top hormone therapy provider in the state and even ranked in the top ten nationally for several years. Her commitment to excellence in hormone therapy is truly commendable.
