Eleven years ago, the seeds of MeBe were sown by co-founder Abigail Bunt, an educator passionate about enhancing the educational experiences of children with autism and other developmental disorders. Observing the limitations of traditional classroom settings, Bunt began to provide applied behavior analysis (ABA) therapy after school to a child diagnosed with autism. Inspired by the child’s remarkable progress, she pursued a board-certified behavior analyst (BCBA) certification.

This pivotal journey led to the creation of MeBe, a clinician-owned therapy provider known today for its tailored, effective care and multi-disciplinary approach to supporting children with developmental challenges.

It integrates a trio of specialized services—ABA therapy, speech and language pathology and occupational therapy—each designed to cater uniquely to the developmental needs of each child. This holistic approach is the hallmark of MeBe’s methodology, providing a synchronized support system that fosters individual growth and potential in a nurturing environment.

From the initial assessment, if a child requires all three services, MeBe promptly forms an interdisciplinary team. This dedicated group works in close collaboration to develop and implement a personalized care plan, ensuring that each therapy is seamlessly integrated to enhance the child’s overall development and well-being. This targeted and unified approach allows MeBe to continuously champion and enhance the potential of each child, embodying co-founder Abby Bunt’s initial vision and her ongoing commitment.

MeBe follows the philosophy that optimal learning occurs when children are fully engaged and enjoying themselves. This is especially true for younger children, who benefit from play-based instruction in settings that mimic a preschool or playground. Here, activities like playing with toy dinosaurs and cars or constructing railroad tracks are carefully chosen to align with each child’s interests and motivations.

“These play activities aren’t just fun; they are carefully chosen based on what each child loves and finds motivating to enhance their learning experiences,” says Bunt.

As children mature, MeBe crafts therapy sessions that reflect their everyday environments, ensuring that acquired skills are directly applicable to their daily lives. This methodical approach of embedding educational objectives within familiar activities makes learning more intuitive and facilitates a fluid transition of these skills from therapy to the child’s natural settings. The result is a boost in the child’s independence and confidence.

MeBe meets each family’s unique needs, offering flexible therapy options catering to different lifestyles and schedules. For families who prefer the comfort of their own homes, it provides home based ABA therapy as well as telehealth speech therapy services across state lines. Recognizing that traditional clinic hours may not suit everyone, MeBe offers extended hours—starting early in the morning and ending late in the evening—ensuring therapy delivery at times most convenient for the family. To ensure its interventions are effective and meaningful, MeBe employs a comprehensive dual assessment approach that includes standardized and quality-of-life assessments, allowing it to track a child’s progress and its impact on the family’s daily life.

MeBe understands that the quality of its services hinges significantly on the expertise of the staff. With this in mind, it invests heavily in its registered behavior technician (RBT) training program, designed to equip the staff—those tasked daily with implementing treatment plans—with essential skills. The training ensures that the staff grasp the theoretical foundations of their roles and excel in applying these principles practically. Such expertise guarantees that every child’s pathway toward their developmental goals is navigated with both professionalism and empathy, supported by a team of adept and compassionate practitioners.
