Founded in 2010, Medical Billing Wholesalers (MBW) is a leading revenue cycle management (RCM) company offering medical billing, medical coding, and business analytics services to more than 60 revenue cycle clients, including billing companies, aggregators, hospitals, physician practices, and SaaS based RCM Software vendors.
“We help our clients achieve the clinical, financial, and care outcomes they seek,” says Vinod Sankaran, CEO of MBW.
As a member of the founding team of MBW, Vinod has helped MBW grow from three employees in 2010 to more than 500 employees with multiple locations in the U.S., and delivery locations in Chennai, India. Under his strategic leadership, MBW has remained true to its vision of offering tech-enabled differentiation. The focus on technology has enabled it to help clients achieve financial success through their revenue cycle—even when the entire RCM realm is facing a skilled labor shortage.
MBW provides its clients with a wide array of services, including eligibility verification and prior authorization, medical coding, and audit, claims submission, payment posting, denial management, enrollment, and credentialing.
“A few years ago, most of our work involved data entry, i.e., demographic entry or posting payments. But the advent of EMRs has changed that. We also have evolved to keep abreast of the recent advancements in the industry to focus more on coding or denial management,” says Vinod.
PeopleHub, on the other hand, enables MBW to manage its employees by creating a collaborative workforce culture. Lastly, ClientHub allows the company to deal with client expectations. Through a portal, clients can access the status report of payment, reimbursement, or claim with complete transparency, without requiring numerous e-mails. They can use it to check the performance of the revenue cycle of each practice. To further complement these tools, the company leverages robotic process automation.

What differentiates MBW from other players is its relationships and communications capabilities. Vinod, along with the COO of MBW, Melvin Miller, interacts with clients to build trust and exhibit how MBW works as an extension of their team. The company also offers end-to-end digital marketing services to help clients manage customer perception and reviews, drive traffic through search engine optimization, and create a robust digital presence through social media channels. MBW publishes leadership articles, blogs, whitepapers, and case studies regarding the revenue cycle to educate clients.
“Over the past two years, we have been introspecting and creating an organizational foundation that sustains for years and puts us on a hyper-growth path. Unlike other companies that focus on process-specific SLAs, we want to be known as a company that delivers true revenue cycle transformation,” says Vinod. To that end, MBW plans to hire more people in the next five months to expand the reach of its services.
The revenue cycle of the future will be anchored on patient experience, accurate coding, and focused AR and denial management. MBW is committed to delivering the same, leveraging its expertise and cutting edge technologies.
