If you live with an elderly parent who has COVID-19, it’s critical that you take measures to prevent the virus from spreading to you or others in the house.
FREMONT, CA: Despite the availability of a coronavirus vaccination, the virus continues to spread. You and your family may still be in danger of catching the virus, and we want you to be prepared if that happens. We understand that receiving a diagnosis can be frightening, especially if a parent or elder relative has the virus. There are, however, several things you can do to support your parent and assist them in regaining their health.
Here are five ways to take care of elderly parents with Covid-19:
Follow the Doctor’s Instructions
If your loved one has been diagnosed with COVID-19, you will most likely receive detailed directions from a doctor to care for them. Isolation, the use of personal protection equipment (PPE), and other instructions may be included. Always follow the doctor’s instructions.
Create a Safe Environment for Loved One
It’s critical to create a separate atmosphere for your parent to keep yourself and your loved ones safe. This area should be comfortable and include all of the conveniences they may require, such as a restroom and a bed. When feasible, limit your parent’s contact with other home members and follow social distancing recommendations. Keeping your loved one confined to their house can help prevent the infection from spreading.
