According to the MGMA, 88 percent of medical practices have had trouble recruiting front-of-the-office workers
FREMONT, CA: Recruiting and retaining employees can be tough, especially during a pandemic like COVID-19. Lack of progression chances, generational differences, higher income in other industries, and an interest in virtual employment are all possible reasons for applicants' lack of interest. Furthermore, the Great Resignation of 2021 — the tendency of individuals abandoning their professions — has affected most industries as people reconsider their work-life balance.
Some medical practice workers were furloughed due to a decline in patient flow at the start of the pandemic, and many chose not to return when conditions improved. One of the more interesting data is that one-third of nonclinical employees who do not return are unvaccinated, adds Fischer-Wright. According to the MGMA, 88 percent of medical practices have had trouble recruiting front-of-the-office workers.
Offering higher salary and better benefits is the most obvious technique to persuade people to take positions, but a practice can also use extras to pique people's interest in working there. Allowing employees to work flexible hours, treating them to lunch twice a week, or covering transportation costs are just a few examples.
