Make it possible for your loved one to participate actively in your family and community. For older adults, isolation can be a significant source of emotional suffering.
Fremont, CA: The rising incidence of aging societies is a problem that national governments, legislators, andhealthcare professionals must address. It affects everyone who has an elderly family member or loved one in their lives, as well as those who are fortunate enough to reach retirement age. Maintaining good health as an older adult takes more than medication and treatment alone. Here are six tips for caring for older adults:
Coordinate your care
Attempt to organize services among all those who are providing formal and informal care for your loved one. This includes everyone from the primary care physician to the person who cleans the house once a week.
Keep care at home if possible
Choose caregivers who are willing to care for your loved one at home instead of in a hospital setting. For some, this may entail house visits, while for others, it may entail telehealth appointments.
