The most important factor for aging skin is growth factors. Most stem cells used in plastic surgery are intended to become growth factor-producing cells, such as fibroblasts and macrophages

Fremont, CA: It is no secret that stem cells have generated a lot of excitement in skin care and aesthetic medicine. How growth factors, stem cells, plant stem cells and other related technologies differ is still unclear. This article will discuss one of the most exciting technological advancements in skin care.

Plant Stem Cells

Many companies offer plant stem cells but do not provide the same advantages as human stem cells. Stem cells from plants offer modest improvements in the skin, but they are usually combined with other active ingredients or peptides since they are not very busy on their own. These products typically consist of plant extracts and have a modest impact on the skin. In contrast to stem cell technology, they do not produce growth factors or activate wound healing.

Human stem cells

Human stem cells are primarily harvested from adults, which has made the process less controversial than it used to be. Though they may offer more stable tissue replacement in fat injections and facelifts, they are not part of skin care as we know it. A ghost cell is implanted with fibroblast DNA to induce stem cells to produce fibroblasts. IPS stands for induced pluripotent stem cells. Stem cells can also be stimulated to produce skin-specific growth factors by placing them in the same growth medium as fibroblasts.
