PRESENT e-Learning Systems is the largest education provider to podiatrists. As a Medical Education and Communications Company (MECC), it provides education to podiatrists in a variety of forms, including in-person and virtual conferences as well as webinars and on-demand online education. The company provides online education programs at the graduate level to podiatry schools, at the post-graduate level to the podiatric residency programs, and accredited continuing medical education (CME) to licensed podiatrists.
PRESENT did the pivot to running all virtual events in 2020 and 2021, when the pandemic shut down the in-person events industry. “Today, continuing education providers in podiatry are trying to find the right balance of live in-person conferences versus virtual conferences that attendees currently want. But it all began three years ago,” says Alan Sherman, the CEO of PRESENT e-Learning Systems. “In early 2020, the live events industry came to a halt due to COVID-19 spread, and people were wisely reluctant to gather at live events. That’s when PRESENT e-Learning Systems made to running virtual CME medical conferences.” During those years, it had the highest number of attendees ever. Thousands of podiatrists discovered that they could get a satisfying educational experience and earn their CME from the comfort of their home or office without incurring the higher expense and infection risk of traveling to in-person conferences. Throughout 2020 and 2021, at times, PRESENT was the only company running online CME programs. “During the pandemic, PRESENT continued to work closely with researchers and key opinion leaders across the country. We needed to ensure that our profession had access to the latest clinical data, across a continuum of care, that would lead to the best patient outcomes”, says Michael Shore, DPM, Director of Medical Education and Founding Member, PRESENT e-Learning Systems.
Education, particularly CME, is a competitive business in podiatry. Although national and state associations produce many in-person conferences, there are just a few private companies producing education. PRESENT is an aggressive, forward-thinking, and efficient company doing the work of much larger organizations. During the past three years, it has virtualized it’s IT systems, moving everything to the cloud so that staff and customers can access it from any device anywhere.
PRESENT’s online education Portal PRESENT Podiatry http:// podiatry.com contains, at any one time, over 300 accredited ondemand CME lectures. All CME certificates earned for PRESENT CME activities are stored permanently in customers’ accounts, whether they come from in-person or virtual conferences, webinars, or online on-demand CME lectures.
We employ APIs that connect our systems to make them operate in a more integrated manner. For 2023, we are committed to running at least eight conferences, half of them live in-person and half virtual online
In addition to needing to earn CME for re-licensure, podiatrists in most states have other education requirements. It varies by state, but the most frequent requirements are opioid/pain management, risk management/medical errors/ethics, and infection control. PRESENT has provided a good deal of these required lectures at its conferences while maintaining a complete inventory of them on-demand in the PRESENT Podiatry Online Lecture Hall.
“Our goal is to provide a single login for our customers. And once they are logged in, we address all of their continuing education needs,” says Sherman. “We employ APIs that connect our systems to make them operate in a more integrated manner. For 2023, we are committed to running at least eight conferences, half of them live in-person and half virtual online.”
