What are some of the major challenges prevailing lately in the market when it comes to injury prevention?

There are two biggest challenges prevailing in the market lately with respect to injury prevention in sports. First, athletes do not put much effort into getting themselves ready to take part in sports. Secondly, after an injury, they want to return to the field as soon as possible.

What are some of the latest trends that have emerged lately?

The first step in injury prevention that we acknowledge is maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Athletes have to remain aware of the importance of having an appropriate diet, staying hydrated, and being able to sleep well.

Secondly, athletes should have a solid grasp of their respective sports and be familiar with the norms of the competition at each level. Moreover, it is essential for them to have a piece of suitable equipment that is tailored specifically to their requirements. We usually inherit the helmet, pads, or shoes from our siblings, but given that we all have unique body proportions, it is essential to ensure that the protective gear is rightly customized for optimum safety and comfort.

Thirdly, athletes need to be fit to compete. They should practice aerobic exercises to condition their cardiorespiratory system. In addition, people with weak muscles are more likely to have joint, muscle or tendon injuries, which is another reason why strengthening workouts are so vital. For example, muscles on the scapula or the shoulder blade are more prone to get fatigued and putting patients at risk of shoulder injuries.

What are some of the prevention programs that can reduce the number of injuries?

There are various kinds of injury prevention practices that have been put into place in the modern era. For example, the anterior cruciate ligament injury prevention program is one of the most widespread. The program places a strong emphasis on endurance, strength training, balance, proprioception (balance exercisies), and jumping drills to ensure that athletes are learning to land properly after their jumps and are activating the correct muscles around the knee.

What would be your piece of advice for budding professionals in the field?

Networking with both patients and coworkers is really crucial. If we don’t know something, we should seek out a colleague, as doing so can help us become more knowledgeable in a field of our interest we may not be experts.
